Since the release of the 1st generation Honda Pilot it has been the emerging market for midsize SUVs. Over the years, Honda has been offering powerful engine, decent fuel efficiency, stylish and comfortable interior as well as exterior and many more features and functions. As this midsize crossover has the three rows of seats which can accommodate 7 to 8 adults, this is largely used as family minivans too. First generation Honda Pilot:

The first launch of this popular SUV was in the 2003 with 3.5 liter V6 engine with 240 horsepower. The engine was mated with 5 speed automatic transmission system and Drivetrain was AWD. The fuel economy of 2003 Honda Pilot was 15/21 mpg in the city/highway. There was no Bluetooth and USB facility in that model.

2004 Honda Pilot had almost same specifications as 2003 model. The navigation system is improved and heated seats are used in EX models. In 2005 the engine had some improvements and it can deliver 255 horsepower output. Along with this, it has some functions which were not present in previous models like tire pressure measuring system, instrument panel etc. It has also some improvements in fuel economy. In 2006, curtain airbags are added in all rows, headlights are redesigned and 7 inch navigation screen is first introduced. 2007 & 2008 models do not have too many changes from 2006 version.

2nd generation Honda Pilot:

As there are many crossover SUVs available in the market, the competition is very high. So, Honda redesign its original Pilot and released the 2nd generation Honda Pilot with some improvements and upgradation. Though it had more space, than its 1st generation, but its maneuverability was not up to the mark.

Current model:

  • LX
  • EX
  • EX-L
  • Touring

Bluetooth, USB, iPod, rear view camera are main features in LX model. In EX model, cruise control, 18 inch alloy wheel, radio are added with those. EX-L model has sunroof heated seats at the front, leather upholstery etc. The Honda Pilot Touring has high quality audio and navigation system.
